Lot 2 features a spicy blend of mostly 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, which shows an elegant and refined texture and mouthfeel.
Upon opening, the most sensational aspect of this wine is the complex collection of aromas that greet you. If we go with the barnyard and ranch theme inherent in the “Pony” name, we’ll find elements of wood and oak (from the barn), hay, alfalfa and other grassy nuances (the Peevish Pony loves his vittles), flint and gunpowder scents (every farmer loves hunting), and charred maple or cedar plank hints (what farmer doesn’t have a still out back that he stokes with a few burning cedar logs from time to time?).
Top off all of these wonderful aromas with crisp strawberry and cherry pie, and you’ve got yourself dinner, dessert, and an evening horse and buggy ride with someone you love….
